1Shamelin, a mall that is relatively near to my house and we're looking at 10 minutes walking distance the max. Though I can be considered as a regular to this mall, I didn't really explore this place except TGV cinemas (thanks to Citibank credit card promotion), and also the superb Kanitama Chahan at Mikaku Ramen.
However, things are going to be different around here, with sparks of creativity. Over 100 student designers (design, graphic, arts) painted their intrinsically unique designs on store shutters. And yes, it is the 1st legal street art challenge in Malaysia.
The theme was based on 3 major Asian cities namely KL City, Tokyo City and Seoul City where student designers were encouraged to draw on the shutters in lieu of the usual canvas.
The challenge lies not only on the creativity, but required skill to paint over metal shutters surface, understanding Dulux paint in terms of absorption, drying time and viscosity.
There was also a KL Street Art Festival Flea market going on for that weekend featuring stalls on collectibles in coins, notes, stamps, and some of nostalgic memories. The owners were more than happy to share with me stories behind their collectibles while educating me at the same time.

If you ever drop by 1Shamelin Shopping Mall, do spare a few minutes exploring their Lower Ground floor, where all the shutter paintings are (permanently).
