Established on last year, Sumo Onigiri has 2 branches at Damansara Utama and Kuchai Lama.
Last week, we dropped by its Kuchai Lama branch occupying only half of the shop unit.
There are 3 types of seating at Kuchai Lama branch; whether to face beautiful red leaves scene, chat with friends or just sit at the bar counter watching the preparation process.
Cute sumo image as wallpaper.
The history of Onigiri.
At the end of menu, there's a page on instructions in making onigiri at home.
Inari Cheese Onigiri (with mashed potato) RM8.90
A choice made as suggested by the staff.
Add another RM2 for a set meal including chawanmushi and miso soup.
Green tea was on separate order.
A mix of japanese rice, spicy sauce, fish roes, sesame, inari skin and cheese.
Not the melted cheese as I would have expected but cheese slice.
Miso soup of spring onion, seaweed and tofu
Mediocre, but enough to warm the stomach.
Chawanmushi was smooth in texture yet expect no ingredient but plain steamed egg.
Scallop Chinmi Onigiri Set RM10.90
"Oishii" (delicious) as commented by Daniel.
Italian Style Onigiri Set RM10.90
My favourite of the night with its mixture of black sesame, mayonnaise sauce, spice powder, lasagna pasta and cheese.
(from left to right in clockwise direction) Kimchi sauce, spicy sauce, sesame wafu dressing and wasabi mayonnaise.
Refillable green tea at self service.
Would be better if the background music just stick on Japanese song only in creating the ambience of Japan.
